I can’t believe it, but it is that time of year again. October is one of my favorite months (I thoroughly enjoy the Fall) and November is a close second. Why November? Thanksgiving is great, but perhaps more importantly, it’s the anniversary month of when I started The Hidden Dominion.
The Hidden Dominion: Three Year Anniversary
It’s always fun to look back at how far this website has progressed.
It started back in November 2016 in my small 400 sq ft apartment. I was working 12-hour shifts while attending school full time, so I didn’t have much time to spend on HD. Sadly, I mostly got around to it only on the off-weekend. I only wrote one or two articles a week, at best. Even then, I spent a lot of that time just learning how to code this website. I’m still anything but rich; However, I have at least upgraded to a regular-sized apartment. And reduced the working hours so I can put significantly more effort toward this.
I wanted to make a website to talk about anything on my mind. And a website where I could start researching and building up different governmental philosophies.
It eventually became something more than a hobby. It became an organization. Since last year, two years after the founding, HD became self-sustaining. What this means is I don’t lose any money keeping it afloat. I made just enough to cover expenses.
I’m thankful to report this year has been even better. I’m getting much more traffic, a lot of it organic. Because of this, I’m seeing an actual profit from HD. It’s not much, but it is progress. With that in mind, I had never expected to see this even become self-sustaining. So I am super proud and thankful.
As with every other anniversary here at The Hidden Dominion, this one also comes with many changes.
Since HD has turned a profit, I took it all to reinvest right back into it.
The Reinvestment
With this reinvestment, I purchased an amazing graphic designer to help with the designs around here.
This includes an entirely new logo, banner, social media images, and general design help.
While I loved the old blue banner, it was definitely time to put it to rest. I want to portray a much more professional appearance on this website (and externally). Those banners did not portray that message…at all. They were pretty cool, though.
After the massive graphic design overhaul, I also got our new store open up at Amazon. We’re just selling T-shirts for now, but there will be more coming later this year. (UPDATE: I have since removed Amazon and stopped supporting them).
I have also brought a new category to the HD: Enclavism. I have been talking about it externally and in some articles for quite some time now, so it’s nothing new. But it is a fresh new feel for the front page. It is also a big step in the direction I have always wanted to go by creating this new political philosophy. It is still in the early stages, but hey, those are the best stages.
With the new category of Enclavism, I have also officially begun work on the book and (new) website to help spark this new philosophy. We have Enclavism.com in construction mode for the foreseeable future, but it will be open someday. Hopefully, in 2020-2021. I hope you’ll sign up for our newsletter and get more information as it continues to progress.
Wrap Up
It’s been another great year at The Hidden Dominion. Thank you for everyone that continues to read and support this venture. You guys are great.
God bless.
