Just open the economy already.
Instead, we are still terrified of catching a cold. A cold that doesn’t impact the vast majority of people under the age of 60… at all.
Now, instead, we are looking for the FOURTH bailout, that will drag this country further into impenetrable debt:
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Thursday that the Trump administration supports issuing another round of stimulus checks to Americans as part of a fourth coronavirus relief package, and vowed to enact legislation by the end of the month.
Mnuchin said in an interview with CNBC that he would not provide “specific details,” but added that the administration is engaged in conversations with congressional leaders.
“We do support another round of economic impact payments,” Mnuchin said. “We’re discussing the criteria with the Senate, and had a productive talk with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.”
Mnuchin added that the administration will work “on a bipartisan basis with Republicans and Democrats,” and said it is a “priority” to have legislation passed by July 20.
President Trump told Fox Business Network earlier this month that he supported another round of stimulus checks, which he signaled could be for even larger amounts than the up to $1,200 per person many Americans received earlier this year. However, not all Republicans—specifically those who are more fiscally conservative—are on the same page.
Meanwhile, Mnuchin also noted that the administration wants “to incentivize people to go back to work,” while addressing the issue of unemployment benefits.
Yet another problem of the republic: such pathetic, weak ability to act. Don’t “incentivize” people to return to work: force them. No bail out. Just a reopened, healthy, happy economy.
Businesses want to hire and get started again. All they need is the green light. If we keep worrying about second waves, third waves, fourth waves, we’ll never get these damn masks off.
We’ll be stuck wearing them for flu season too in 5 years. Because hey, some people die.
It is not I nor the grandchildren of this country’s responsibility to pay for these bailouts which will serve no benefit that could not also be derived from re-opening the economy.
We are living in the generation of fear. Our ancestors fought through genocidal wars, plagues, and constant deaths. Yet here we are afraid of catching a cold that has been proven to not impact the majority of Americans.
Pathetic.
And these are no small “relief” packages either:
Trump administration eyes $1T price tag for next coronavirus relief package
Some Senate Republicans are starting to balk at the nation’s ballooning deficit — risking support for another virus relief package
The White House wants to limit the cost of the fourth coronavirus relief package at $1 trillion or less amid growing concerns among some Republican senators over the nation’s ballooning deficit, according to a senior administration official.
Negotiations between Congress and the Trump administration on another round of virus-related stimulus are set to begin in earnest later this month after lawmakers return to Washington from their two-week Fourth of July break.
But some administration officials are concerned that if the aid package is worth more than $1 trillion, the White House risks losing pivotal support from fiscally conservative Senate Republicans who are starting to balk at the unprecedented debt and spending levels.
“Limit” and “$1 trillion” should never be in the same sentence unless we’re talking about Venezuela’s inflation.
This is insane. The right has collectively lost their minds. What are we even conserving anymore?
Debt? Great.
At this point, the only thing that will save us is a complete overhaul of the Republican party. They aren’t on our side anymore and haven’t been for decades.
