Hidden Dominion wishes to ensure our readers understand our unique affiliate policy. We [may in the future] support this website through the use of affiliate programs. These programs allow the reviewer to earn a commission on each sale that is purchased because of the fair use of this website. It does not raise the price of the item. Any piece of equipment or item recommended on this site will have been personally used or purchased by the author of the article. The official Hidden Dominion articles will never use affiliate links with any products we do not personally have experience with. This way we can build trust in our recommendations and empower you to feel safe in purchasing the item.
Amazon Disclaimer: We were previously an affiliate for Amazon. Because of their ideological tint, I no longer wish to give them money or send my readers to them. I have quit their affiliate service effective Nov 29, 20. I attempted to remove all applicable Amazon links but that is quite the challenge when you have 500+ articles. If you discover any that are not removed, please contact me to remove them.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
We use a contact form on this website. If you submit information through the contact form, you are allowing us to hold it indefinitely for customer service purposes or for article purposes. We reserve the right to publish any information sent through our contact form. Obviously, we would not publish personally identifiable information but we reserve the right to post the text and non-PII information of the report. We would use this to interact with our members (such as respond to their questions publicly) or showcase hate mail.
We do have third parties on this website. One example is our comment provider (currently WPDiscuz). They filter and use your commenting data as necessary to provide their service. Third party providers use this to provide a needed service on this website such as commenting, spam protection, filtering contact form submissions, and providing cookies for tracking. By using this website you consent to allowing these few third parties to function as needed. We will do the best we can to limit the amount of these third parties and avoid the pervasive privacy-breaking ones (such as Google) as mentioned further below.
We sometimes have embedded content. Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We have no personal control over this information or tracking. If you do not wish to be involved with this, do not interact with embedded content on this website.

Ads, Cookies, and Analytics
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

- We do not use Google analytics or Google ads.
- Currently we do not have any ads on the website at all except internal ads for related Hidden Dominion articles on this same website.
- We do use a service known as Matomo for analytical-purposes (hereby referred to only in regards to the first) as a privacy focused alternative for analytics. This service keeps the data in house (no third party) and does not track extra data like demographics. They use a cookie for when you are on the website so I can see which pages and how many pages were viewed for my analytics information. It does anonymize users. It does not have a unique identifier or follow you outside of HD such as Google Analytics. I do my best not to track but need to count for proper analytics. You can find out more about Matomo in their privacy policy which is freely available online. They are far superior to privacy-invader Google and their affiliates. Out out using the below form.
- We collect this analytics data so we know what posts and topics you are interested in reading more of. We also collect it so we know what types of content are most appealing to our readers.
- We also use some analytics from Mailterlite for our newsletter. This places a cookie so we know not to show you the popup ad repeatedly if you’ve turned down the ad. Mailerlite’s privacy is available online.
- Some other plugins may also use a cookie in a similar manner to Matomo. For example, we also use a popular post plugin which tracks which posts are receiving a higher number of views. This does not capture any other information outside of that very limited scope and does not identify you at all.
To opt out of Matomo use the below:
You may choose to prevent this website from aggregating and analyzing the actions you take here. Doing so will protect your privacy, but will also prevent the owner from learning from your actions and creating a better experience for you and other users.
