A worthwhile video to watch, given our current predicament. Skip the first couple of minutes:

Energy is a major driver of the sustainment of our current civilization. Without it, we can’t conserve our current population levels or living standards. The same goes for trade.

The entire system of the state relies heavily on energy and trade, both of which are intrinsically deeply interconnected.

Both also just so happen to be under constant attack by the ruling class as of late.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence, however.
